CONGRATULATIONS TO

on Nationally qualifying for the AQHYA World Show!

GOOD LUCK IN OKLAHOMA CITY!!

Hi everyone, I hope this message finds you and your horses all well.
As you know, at the last meeting we all decided that we should have a Fun & Fundraising Committee and WOW!  These girls have some great ideas!  So, this is the final things that the girls came up with for the Band City Show . . .

Paid Warm Ups - $5.00 per ride (Patti we will need your help with this as we're not quite sure how it works!)
Silent Auction Saturday & Sunday - Each Youth Member is to bring two items for the Auction
Bake Sale Monday - Each Youth Members is to bring one or two items for the Bake Table
50/50 Tickets - Saturday, Sunday and Monday
Guess the Jelly Bean Jar - $1.00 per guess
Bottle Boxes - Set thru-out the arena and barns to collect bottles.  Will be picked up after the show (If each Youth Member could bring one or two Medium Sized boxes, decorated if you wish, that would be a BIG help!)
* Pie in the Face*  Saturday night, after the show ONLY if we can get Glen Glabel or another GOOD sport!  :) - $5.00 per pie!

I know this is a lot to go on at a show but most of it is pretty much self sufficient and should be easy Money-makers and hopefully some of our parents would be willing to help us out a bit!

*PLEASE REMEMBER*  At the last meeting a motion was made that "Each Youth Member must volunteer a minimum of 10 hours per year i.e. selling 50/50 tickets, sitting at the Jelly Bean Jar etc. to also qualify for Year End Awards".  That works out to approx 1 hour per Show Day and remember, your hour can be split up if necessary.  It was great to see us all out working as a Team last Show!

Courtney Cochrane has offered to take the bottles into Sarcan after the show - THANK YOU Courtney!  Also, Carley Manz is working in conjunction with Carla from Burger Barn to set up a "Steak Supper or Special of the Day" in which the Youth would get a cut of so watch for that as well!

A HUGE "WAY TO GO" to Toni Lindgren for her Youth Reining run.  She is currently our only Youth Reiner who is Showing and she did a great job at the last show!  Let's get out there and cheer her on!!!

Thank you to the Fun & Fundraising Committee for some great ideas, keep them coming and I'm sure the girls are always looking for some extra input!  There will be a meeting sometime during the weekend and hopefully some kind of fun activity if we're all not to tired!

Any questions or other ideas, please feel free to e-mail me at   Saruh-xxo@hotmail.com

Thanks everyone, and see you at the Show!

Important notice to all Youth Riders

SQHA strongly encourages all youth to wear approved safety helments; in the show arena, warmup pen, and anytime they are handling horses on the grounds.  Please help set an example for the next generation!

Thank you.  We appreciate your co-operation in this matter.

Jeremy Buchynski

Age: 17

Hometown: Paddockwood, SK

Current horse: Zip by Otoe (George)

About family: Mother is Janice; she works for SK government in the Forestry Branch. She also started showing last year on my brother’s horse, this year she will be showing more now she has her own horse. My father is Richard; he drives truck for a company that is contracted to Shore Gold, at the maybe soon to be diamond mine. He comes to some shows to watch and help out, he doesn’t ride. My brother Matthew; is currently going to the U of S for engineering. When he finished high school he went to Texas, for 9 months, to work for a QH trainer/coach - John Briggs.

First prize: The first prize that I have won would probably be in 4-H. I don’t remember what it was though.

Proudest moment: My proudest moment would have had to be at the 2009 Regional Experience in South Dakota; when I got Reserve Champion in Showmanship and a Championship in Western Horsemanship with 30 to 33 competitors in the classes from Saskatchewan, Alberta, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming & Colorado. I also ended up  3rd place All Around Novice Youth.

Favorite music: I listen to every type of music but I mostly listen to country and rock.

Any show want to go to: If I could go to any show I wanted to it would have to be Youth Worlds because I went to watch it this past year and it looks like it would be a blast to participate in.

Any vacation: If I could have a vacation wherever I wanted it would be to the Caribbean because I love the warm weather and I want to go surfing.

Info: Once I am done school this summer I will be going to Texas to ride with John Briggs. He is going to help me put final polish on George cause I want to sell him this year. Also I will hopefully get to show at Youth Worlds.

.. March 2010

My name is Riley Buisse, I'm sixteen years old and I'm from a small Saskatchewan town called Redvers.

My Dad's name is Donald, and he is a grain, and beef farmer.  My mom's name is Sharla, she trained horses for a large portion of her life, and is now owner of a dog boarding and grooming business called Prairie Dogs.  I have one older sibling named Jessie, she will be graduating in the summer.

I have been riding horses ever since I could walk, and loved it all my life.  My horse that I am riding now is Gibson.  He is a 5 year old  buckskin QH gelding, and he will be turning 6 on April 4th.  He's very loving and adorable, and has a lot of character.

My very first prize was with my old appaloosa Chico, at a local show near my hometown, I was about 7 at the time, and almost died with excitment.

My proudest moment though so far, would have to be winning the Novice Youth Trail at Canadian Nationals this year.  It really was the highlight of my show year.

If I could choose any show to go to, it would be the Youth Worlds, I'm hoping to go there this year if I feel Gibson and I are ready.  My mom and I are flying down to Denver Colorado for a show there from March 25th to the 28th.

Lets get lots of new info onto the youth page.  If you are showing or traveling or have any great stories to share, please email us and let us know.

We would like to hear from our youth members with some other ideas for fund raising activities.  If you would like year end awards we need to do some fund raising and find some sponsorship money to pay for the awards.  The amount of effort we put into the fundraising and sponsorship will reflect directly on the prizes we will be able to present.

As one of your advisors I am here to help, but you must also show some initiative.  Call me anytime with your ideas.

LETS GET OUT THERE AND LOOK FOR SPONSORSHIP!
